Accepted Items
These items are taken at the Co-op recycle center
just South of the Co-op Garden. Please place sorted items in the
appropriately marked bins.
Aluminum: (Soda cans, pie plates & tinfoil) place in
co-mingled container.

Aseptic: food-grade paper with glossy exterior finishes and
interior impermeable coating. (Rice/soy milk containers, juice cartons
and round ice cream cartons) Remove all plastic, place in grey bins
located along west fence.
Important: All plastic fittings should be discarded. The flatter
and cleaner the better!

Glossy Paperboard: any paper board with a glossy finish (frozen
food containers, square ice cream containers, orange juice tubes
[remove steel/plastic], paper take-out containers.) Place in glossy
paperboard bin.
Paper, Paperboard: (Newspapers, magazines, office papers,
uncoated clean paper cups.) Place in co-mingled bin.

Corrugated Cardboard: place in large cardboard bin. NO WAXED
CARDBOARD.
Unfortunately, waxed corrugated cardboard is not recyclable. Place
waxed corrugated in dumpster.

Glass: Separate by green/brown/ clear, other colors are not
accepted.

Expanded
Polystyrene (EPS, aka "Styrofoam"):
We accept sheets and foam for a small fee to cover the cost of delivering
the collections to Portland for recycling. Foam togo containers
that have been contaminated with food can not be recycled by us
at this time. Basic fees: $1/paper shopping bags, $5 for 40-80 gallon
garbage bags, and $20 for truckloads. This services is for individuals
only, no businesses please.Learn

Special areas
have been set up at the Co-op recycle center to take these harder
to recycle items. Look for the large white bags along the fence
Soft Plastics: All plastic bags of all colors. We also take
the plastic ties that go around newspaper bundles and zip ties, plastic
wrap and bubble wrap, clean food packages and plastic wrapping from
inside food boxes.
Hard Plastics: Like the soft plastics, we take most hard plastics
except PVC pipe. We accept numbers 1 thru 7 and plastic products such
as Tupperware, Rubbermaid, etc. We also accept kids pools and
patio furniture.
Garden Pots & Bailers Twine: Plastic garden pots
of any size, round or square. We take all color of bailers twine.
Printer Ink Cartridges: The Co-op has a drop off center at
each store to leave your computer printer ink cartridges. You can
simply drop off your used cartridges at the box near Customer Service,
or you can fill out an envelope and send it to Rapid Refill Ink.They
will refill your ink cartridge and return it to the Co-op for you
to pick up.
Batteries: Place in the household battery bin at Customer Service.
No car batteries. Leaking batteries are considered hazardous waste.
Eye glasses:
We are currently
accepting used eye glasses and donating them to people in need in
Togo, West Africa.

Unaccepted Items & where to take them
Styrofoam
peanuts and plastic bags placed in the co-mingled bin is the most
common error.
Car batteries - BiMart , Robnetts, Battery Exchange
and Allied Waste.
Cell Phones - CARDV, Goodwill, Office Max, Radio Shack, Senior
Center, Staples, or Corvallis Environmental Center.
Motor Oil* - can be placed by the curb with your recycling
or taken to Allied Waste.
The Co-op does not take used oil of any kind.
E-Waste* Electronics, computers and phone equipment - Allied
Waste.
Light Bulbs* Fluorescent - Allied Waste, Incandescents -
trash
Paint waste* - Allied Waste, or if it is reusable, Habitat
for Humanity may be interested
Bottle caps - trash.
Metal debris - Burchans in Albany or Coffin Butte.
Styrofoam peanuts - mailing facilities (like UPS).
Tires - Les Schwab, Beggs, Firestone, & G & J Tires
Yard debris & wood waste* - Process Recovery Center (PRC)
Hwy 99 across from the landfill.
Wood* Reusable - Habitat, if not - Allied Waste
Beds, furniture, TV, and appliances* can be donated to Linn-Benton
Furniture Share or can be picked up by Allied Waste if you give
them a call. There is a charge for picking up items. Goodwill will
take most items if they are in good shape.
* Most of these recyclables can go to a Waste Collecting Event.

Recycling Day: April, fee for taking most materials to PRC is waived,
Habitat for Humanity is on hand to reclaim usable materials.
