2008 Board of Directors

Members: Greg Alpert, Chris Bentley, Camille Freitag, Fred Heil, Toni Hoyman, Liz Kelly, Larry Plotkin, Bettina Schempf, Rebecka Weinsteiger.

Responsibilities: As representatives of the shareholders, the Board establishes overall policies and objectives, sets financial goals and approves major financial transactions, approves employee benefits programs, selects the General Manager and evaluates his/her performance, and reviews and approves the annual budget.

Meets: Each month on the third Tuesday, 6:30 - 10pm. Co-op owners are welcome to attend the first 10 minutes of the meetings for comments. If you prefer, you may contact the directors by e-mail at faboard@peak.org.

Board application packets are available upon request. Applications are due by February 28th. Elections will be held in May.

 
Board Development Commitee

Chairperson: FA Board Member

Members: Membership is composed of one or more Board directors, one staff representative and up to three owners at large.

Responsibilities: This committee is responsible for maintaining excellence, continuity and stability in the leadership of the organization. The committee will seek qualified Board candidates and will work to enhance Board and Board director performance, individually and as a group.

Meets: 1st Thursday of the Month at 6:30pm

Chairperson: FA Board President

FA General Manager

Responsibilities: All items require FA Board approval, except as noted the committee's role is to propose and expedite this approval. Many of the "annual reviews" would be coordinated with Board planning retreats. The term "review" is meant to include proposed updates and revisions.

Attendance: Open to FA members in good standing and other FA Board members. Executive sessions will be FA Board members only.

Meets: 2nd Tuesday of the Month at 5:00pm

Finance Commitee

Chairperson: FA Board Member

Members: Any owner of First Alternative may serve on the finance committee. The membership shall include the general manager, the finance coordinator, and at least one board member. One year appointments approved by the Board.

Responsibilities: Except as noted all items require approval of the Board of directors. The committee's role is to expedite this approval. Proposals submitted to the Board agenda shall include a statement of pros and cons. Many of the "annual reviews" shall be included in the planning calendar of the Board of directors. The committee shall maintain a yearly calendar noting the tasks to be completetd on a month-by-month basis.

Attendance: Anyone may attend a meeting of the finance committee.

Owner Relations
Commitee

Chairperson: FA Board Member

Members: Three owners, two Board directors, one staff representative. Members serve one-year terms and are appointed by the Board.

Responsibilities: The Owner Relations Committee is a primary conduit for communication and insight between owners and the Board. It facilitates the discussions and develops various vehicles for owner input.

Meets: 1st Tuesday of the Month at 12pm
